WebAnswers.com Review: Can This Website Help You Make Money Online?
I Joined WebAnswers.com!
As a stay-at-home mom having to survive in this economy with one steady income, I am always looking for ways to help my family earn a little extra income so my husband doesn’t have to get another job (he already works three!). Due to the recommendations by fellow hubbers Brett.Tesol and Giselle Maine, I joined the site WebAnswers.com, which offers the incentive of earning money through Google Adsense.
These are my reflections for my first month at WebAnswers.com.

First Things First: Signing Up
Signing up with WebAnswers.com was super easy. You choose a user name and password, fill in profile information such as ‘experience’ and ‘expertise’, and upload a profile picture. That’s it! You can begin using the site right away.
Before I began answering questions, I read the Overview and FAQs sections for the site. I always like to learn about what is needed to do well on sites like this (just as I did with HubPages’ Learning Center). The Overview basically tells you to write accurate, detailed questions and that you can earn money by answering questions. The FAQs goes into much more detail, explaining the idea of the site, what is permitted, and what is not permitted. In the FAQ section I learned about how users award answers and how those answers can earn money. Basically, it’s up to the person asking the question as to which answer is awarded, and that decision is based on whether or not the person likes your answer and if there is enough detail in your answer that satisfies their curiosity.
Answering Questions
My next step was to just answer questions. Under the Home tab, I found about 25 different categories to choose from, plus the latest questions listed at the bottom of the page. I began by going through the latest questions, and then I browsed the categories. I tend to check out the ‘Baby and Pregnancy’, ‘Education’ and ‘Other and Miscellaneous’ categories since I find more questions there that intrigue me, but there are other quality categories as well.
When I started using WebAnswers.com at the end of August 2011, I was only required to answer about 10 questions before I was able to link my Google Adsense account to the site. Now you would be required to answer 50 questions before you are able to link an Adsense account. On my first day, I answered the 10 questions I found the most interesting and was able to link my account that day.

- Would you eat foods with carmine or cochineal listed in the ingredients?
- What are some inexpensive items to put into a bridal shower wishing well?
Asking Questions
Asking questions on WebAnswers.com is just as easy as answering them. Under the Ask tab, you write a question, add some details, and choose a category to which it would belong. Simple as that. Once other users start to answer the question, you will get a notification so that you can monitor the answers coming in and add a clarification if the answers coming aren’t what you are looking for. If you do receive an answer that you like, you can choose to reward the answer, allowing the person who answered to earn money for their answer from the ads that appear on that page.

Am I Earning Money?
So far, I have earned about $5.00 from the site. I have 16 awarded answers so far, which I assume accounts for most of the money. I also have about 50 questions, which I believe since the site is still in Beta it is allowing users to earn money from any clicks that occur on the pages with questions.
I’d say $5.00 is pretty good, considering I have earned only a bit more than that from clicks on my HubPages account in several months. Others have claimed to have more success, but they may also have more activity.
What I Have Learned So Far
There are a few things I have learned from using WebAnswers.com and from reading other’s accounts of their usage of the site.

For one, there are many people joining WebAnswers for one day, just to get a quick answer to a question. They usually have no interest in awarding any answers. I can tell who these users are since they do not spend time answering any questions before they ask a question. If I find their question to be interesting, I answer it anyway since it adds to my user status (the levels from New User to Brain that indicate your level of activity on the site).

Many users do not understand the concept of proper grammar and spelling, especially when it comes to questions. I feel like this may hinder the page from getting views, but on the other hand, if so many on WebAnswers cannot spell, so may many others using Google be the same way…

There is often competition for the questions. There are many bright users on the site who really know what they’re writing. I find that after I submit what I think is a great answer, there is someone who responds right after me to top what I said. It’s definitely a great strategy, one that I have learned to use as well…

Some users take questions or answers too personally. You have to remember that the users are people too, not just bots sending out pre-written answers, but some of them get carried away and too emotionally attached. I find that to be unprofessional, but c’est la vie.

WebAnswers can be addicting. It is just as addicting as HubPages, if not more since it takes little time to participate. I often find myself scouring the new questions every hour or so, hoping to find a great one to answer.

This is a really interesting hub. I joined webanswers some time ago, but with working and spending most of my time on Hub Pages, I haven't been there for a while. But I do agree with you, it's definately addictive and it's quite shocking how the time flies in when you are on that site. So for anyone who wants to try it but not to spend too much time there - set an alarm clock!

Charlotte B Plum, I actually learned how to track WebAnswers earnings from another hubber. In Adsense, go to the My Ads tab at the top. Click on URL Channels on the left side. Click on the button New URL Channel. Simply enter Webanswers.com. It will then be able to track that particular URL under performance reports as part of the whole or again if you click on URL Channels it will give you the WebAnswers info as well.

truthfornow, I try to be as honest as possible! I wouldn't want to tell others to try something if I didn't find it useful. The money I earned, while it seems small, is pretty good I'd say for my level of activity. There are others who make much more but are on the site much longer than I have been. I'd say it's still worth a try since it costs nothing to join and is really easy to try.

Hello PracticalMommy. I am really that you shared this hub and you made it so simple. Actually, a week back, I decided to join the site but I got lost because of my hectic schedule. Thank you for reminding me giving me some great ideas and information.
$5.00 is pretty good I must say and I am a teacher as well, so finally being a teacher may help me out in something I guess. Haha!
Since I haven't visited the site yet, so one thing I would like to ask that if you are awarded with the best answer, will it only then you will earn any income from that page? And if you are not been awarded with the answer or the answer has already been awarded to someone else, what is the reward to give an answer to that specific question, apart from increasing your stats and helping other?
In short, please summarise the way you can earn income there. Thank you :)

Hunbbel Meer, hello to a fellow teacher! Here's my answers to your questions: 1. Yes, as an 'answer-er' you can only earn money from an awarded answer. 2. Basically, you answer as many questions as you're able to try to get as many awarded answers as possible. Yeah, you'll only be awarded a few, but those other answers do add up in your status level which does help since users tend to award those with higher status levels (not all the time, but most of the time). 3. Along with earning as an 'answer-er', you can currently earn as a question asker. Those are the only two ways that I know of to earn with WebAnswers.

Actually after commenting on your hub, I stumbled at the webanswers.com and made an account. It notified me that they will confirm the account and get back to me within 48 hours and until then I won't be able to participate in the discussions etc. Then I logged in and since then it is keep irritating me with "invalid username/password".
I believed that at least it would let me in until my account is confirmed, but I guess I was wrong. Yeah?
Another thing that I am doubting on now is that my country falls in the list from where webanswers do not accept users. But then I read a blog where it was written that the restriction has been lifted from many countries. Is there any way that you can confirm and get back to me whether the website is available for Pakistan?

I used to be on Webanswers a lot. I have mixed feelings about the site. It is great if you plan on using it every day and staying active. But if you leave for a while, your earnings disappear. That does not happen with article writing. I will earn as long as someone wants to read what I have to say. If someone does not want to write online for a living, this is a decent alternative.
Sorry, Hunbbel Meer. I did check the site, under Member Agreement at the bottom of the page (you can access this even without being a member)and it still lists Pakistan as a country that does not have the ability to use Webanswers. Perhaps there's another site you can use.

Good info. very similar to something I'm involved with right now at inboxdollars.com. You can check it out. I got $5 just for completing a survey and reading a couple of email in a day. The catch, your email get shared with their sponsors which could result in you getting over a dozen emails of offers.
I just finished reading one email. Got .25cents for that.

I did sign up, right then. So far I like it, and it seems to be addicting. I'll have to keep myself from getting hooked too much, or else I'll need to detox. You are right. Some of the answers they are looking for are rather personal and still others are written with bad grammar and misspellings. What else is new these days? Well, again, thanks for the information!

Great hub! I've been trying to earn extra money also. I think I make half a penny an hour. I used to make a lot of extra cash writing copy part-time... the economy is really hurting that resource. Thanks for the advice.
