Muppet Show Theme Song--Original

Music for Kids

As a mom of two little kids, I listen to a lot of kid's music and songs. Some I enjoy and there are others that I can do without. In my other hub Kids’ Songs that Kids AND Parents Can Enjoy, I made a list of kids' songs that are fun for kids and adults. But I can’t leave out Sesame Street or the Muppets! As a child of the 80s-90s, I grew up watching and listening to Jim Henson's famous characters, like Kermit the Frog, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, The Count, Gonzo and so many others.

I enjoyed many of these songs then as I do now. There are quite a few fun songs that I don’t mind having on my playlist, especially since my husband and I enjoyed them as kids! They include:

1. It Ain’t Easy Being Green

2. Caribbean Amphibian

3. Do De Rubber Duck

4. Somebody Come and Play

5. Being a Pig

6. A New Way to Walk

7. Put Down the Ducky

8. The Batty Bat

9. I Love Trash

10. We Are All Earthlings

11. Sesame Street Theme (vocal version by Max Q is pretty cool!)

12. Theme from Muppet Show

13. Bohemian Rhapsody (Muppets Version)

14. B is for Bubble

15. Doin' the Pidgeon

16. I Dance Myself to Sleep

17. I Don't Want to Live on the Moon

18. One of These Things is Not Like the Others

19. The Rainbow Connection

20. Sing

Newer Sesame Street Songs with Celebrities

These are songs that in recent years have been added to the Sesame Street repertoire of music. Since they are sung by some pretty popular celebrities and they are familiar melodies, they tend to be liked by adults as well as kids. While I am not exactly a fan of all of their other products, I can appreciate these songs they sang on Sesame Street.

1. What I Am—Will.i.am

2. Outdoors—Jason Mraz

3. A Song about Elmo—Adam Sandler

4. 1,2,3,4—Feist

5. Don’t Know Y—Norah Jones

6. Hold My Hand—Hootie and the Blowfish

7. Pride—Goo Goo Dolls

And the List Goes On…More Fun Music for Kids from Sesame Street and the Muppets!

Are you a fan of Sesame Street or the Muppets? Is there any other song you would include? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks!

Nice hub! When my children were little we really liked the song on Sesame Street about ...."Almost missed that sunset...." while he tied his shoelaces? I've tried to find it online since then and can't find it. It was a great song.

Thanks, Pamela! Is the song you're looking for "Nearly Missed"? I Googled the info you gave me and that's what came up, with Elmo as the singer. Hope that helps! Thanks for reading!

These songs bring back memories....There are some great songs here that can even be used in the classroom. I know my students enjoyed when I played some silly Veggie Tales songs. They'd love these too!
